Recovery On Purpose provides quality individual, couples, and group therapy for addictions of substance and behaviour to the greater Edmonton and surrounding areas. Services are offered with specialized training in sexually compulsive or addictive behaviours. We welcome both self-referrals and those from other professionals. Priority is accommodated for the crisis situation.
We utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions. Our goal is alleviation of immediate crisis and recovery management. The restoration of self and your significant relationships are paramount to our considering therapy a success. We will do everything possible to meet your expectations.
The materials available for your review in the Resources section are a sampling of some of the resources used within the therapy session. Some of these are specific to an audience including therapists, parents, partners, and young adults. The International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals has produced a myriad of copyrighted material which will be made available to you in our service provision.
We utilize the 30 Tasks of Recovery developed by Patrick Carnes utilizing three essential workbooks: Facing the Shadow (addict), accompanying Facing Heartbreak (partner), and Facing Addiction (substance abuse) in our therapeutic task work. Recovery Zone 1 was developed to initiate growth in the internal tasks (addiction interaction, cycles of abuse, shame, grieving losses, and strengthening the relationship with self) and Recovery Zone 2 to address the external tasks (spiritual life, resolving conflicts, restoring healthy sexuality & family, coupleship, and primary intimacy). The Recovery Zone 2 workbook is currently under development. Other resources continue to be developed.
